Ned Luke, the voice actor behind GTA 5's Michael De Santa, was swatted twice while streaming GTA Online. The perpetrator has now been sentenced, marking a rare legal victory against the dangerous hoax.
The defendant accepted a plea agreement and received a four-year prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release and a $200 special assessment. Luke posted the legal document on Twitter, captioning it with a blunt message: "Don't drop the soap in the shower douchebag… Won't be swatting anyone anytime soon. And they're coming for the ones he ratted out as well."
The plea deal indicates the defendant cooperated with authorities in exchange for a negotiated sentence, and Luke noted that further action against accomplices is underway.
The first swatting occurred in November 2023. Luke was livestreaming GTA Online on his personal YouTube channel during Thanksgiving when a SWAT team arrived at his home, disrupting the broadcast. A second incident followed in December 2025, after which Luke was invited to testify against an alleged central perpetrator—the individual now sentenced.
Swatting involves making false reports to law enforcement—claiming a serious crime or hostage situation—to provoke a heavily armed SWAT response at an innocent person's address. It is a dangerous act that can lead to injury or death, wastes emergency resources, and traumatizes victims. The sentencing in Luke's case reinforces that swatting carries real legal consequences, serving as a deterrent to potential copycats.
Steam reviews for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced highlight its stunning visual upgrades and the chaotic freedom of its open world, but many users report frustration with PC migration issues and launcher instability that detract from the experience. The faster loading and 3D audio improve immersion in Los Santos, yet these enhancements are often overshadowed by frequent crashes and account-link headaches. Despite these technical hurdles, the game's satirical heists and the persistent Online chaos keep players coming back, proving the core sandbox remains as compelling as ever.
